A couple of days ago I had the opportunity to sit down with fellow ocean and surf photographer Joel Coleman.
I met Joel a few years ago when I first moved to Northern Beaches – Sydney. He was, well, still is, a local surf photographer and his work has definitely had an influence on me back when I was trying my self at surf and ocean photography. Back then, Joel ran his local gallery where he sold his fine art ocean inspired prints.
Over the years, we’ve somehow managed to stay in touch and when Joel launched his new podcast: Photographic Philosophy I was intrigued yet again and sent him an email right away. A proper, sit-down, deep conversation between photographers about photography… similar to my video series Photography Unplugged, we share what drives us as photographers and what our real Photographic Philosophy is. As a photographer, I love this stuff!
Looking at the calibre of people he’s been talking to I was rather surprised he invited me onto his show. But hey, why not!
We talked about my transition from the Belgian Army to becoming a photographer, working for Chris Burkard, my relationship with Olympus and my most recent project: Dreamwalkers.
If you liked it please subscribe to his Podcast. Every episode has been such a pleasure to listen to so far.
Joel, thanks for having me. It was an absolute pleasure!
Enjoy!
