Sunset Layers

150.00 1,670.00

It was a rather cloudy afternoon and the sun was long gone behind the clouds when I noticed a blue gap of sky between the horizon and the layer of clouds. As the afternoon came to an end the gap was closing and the clouds started to join the horizon line.

But just in time the sun managed to peek through and light up the sky in an intensity of colours I have never seen before. For 5 minutes the whole Yosemite Valley was glowing bright, warm orange before the gap in the sky closed and the sun disappeared behind the mountains.

I’ve never seen anything like it.

This image would look amazing in pretty much any format. Small, Large, Canvas or Acrylic… you name it.

Tuolumne Meadows

There aren’t too many road across Yosemite National Park. One of them lead over the Tioga pass which climbs up to 3000m (9900ft).
Just after crossing the highest point you suddenly hit this flat area called the Tuolumne Meadows.

I followed this coyote for nearly 30 minutes. The wildlife is so wild in Yosemite that it didn’t even see me as a threat but instead just went about its business and kept hunting dinner.
It was quite fascinating to get so close (I got within about 10m) and watch it blend in with its habitat and catch mice and squirrels, but when it decided to cross the road the contrast between wild and human just made for the best shot.

Probably one of the most iconic views of California. Yosemite National Park is truly amazing.

This is Half Dome seen from the famous viewpoint called Glacier Point. With it’s rather easy access this (or a variation of this) image lands in every visitors memory card. It’s a must-see-to-believe location.

I’ve spent quite a few hours here shooting Half Dome and it’s surroundings in times of the day / night, but this particular shot made the selection because the clouds add so much drama to the shot it nearly becomes scary. Can you see how powerful Half Dome seems? Even the clouds make a detour around it. Tall and proud it stand all alone – timeless.

I’d recommend hanging this shot over a bed in a room or in an entry hall of a house. And an acrylic is practically a must for this image. Although Canvas would work great too. If you can afford it: Go Big!
